Pet of the Month

Hi....my name is Nne, which means 'four' in Swahili...but my mummy & daddy usually just call me Kitlet. I know I am a beautiful apricot Siamese (everyone tells me this) and like all Siamese, I talk a lot to anyone who will listen.

My Life did not have the best start...mummy & daddy adoptede both me and my twin brother..he was called Tatu ('three' in Swahili)./...and we joined our bu brother Moja & Mobili ('one' & 'two'..you will be seeing a pattern here by now!). Unfortunately, Tatu got sick almost immediately and neither my mummy, nor the nice vets at Rainsbrook, could save him. Next, I got sick too and was diagnosed with Lymphoma and just a couple of weeks later, Mbili was killed on the road in our village.

Still....despite these sad things happening, daddy fenced in our garden so that Moja & I would be safe and two new kittens joined our family...Yanu & sita (yes, you've guessed it...'five' and 'six')..and I started my chemotherapy treatment under the strict care of my Uncle Simon (Mr Daniel to you!) For the first 8 weeks I had to visit every Wednesday, then after tests (which I passed with flying colours), these visits dropped to fortnighty. More tests after another followed over another 8 weeks and I now only visit every 3rd week. Uncle Simon says he is very pleased with my progress!

Now I know that most cats don't like visiting the vets much, but I actually enjoy my visits because everyone always makes such a fuss of. Auntie Vonny is usually first as she sits at the front desk, but then all the very kind nurses and receptionists alwats ensure that I have a fully heated bed waiting for me round the back.  I also get lots of fuss and attenion during my stays throughout the day.

Becuase I also have IBS, I cannot eat normal cat food (which is just as well because I don't like it!) I get to eat special food. Now don't think that I mean special prescription diet, I eat things like fresh roast chicken, duck, guinea fowl, venison, roast lamb, various African antelope meats (including Kudu, Bleisbok, Impala), buffalo, ostrich...i've even tried kangaroo! For this reason, my mummy always packs me a lunch box when I visit the vets!

I have a very exciting life as I get to go almost everywhere with my mummy...work (where I often sleep in her desk drawer, when I'm not asleep on the comuter that is!), out & about in the car, visiting friends houses, and I even attend business meetings in the office (although once, one visitor turned out to be terrified of cats and I was shut in another room ..how silly is that!) I get to go on holiday too, so far I've been to Cornwall & The Lake District. Look at some of my holiday snaps here, I like hill walking & chasing sheep, however, I'm sorry to say I am frightened of ducks...

All this, and I am only a year old! How lucky am I! Thank you to Rainsbrook Vets for giving this opportunity to live this life

XX Nne
