Hi, my name is Bruno & this is my sister Loui and this is our story so far....
It all started 18 months ago when I had 5 teeth taken out, my mummy was very concerned that I wouldn’t be able to eat properly. In fact it was her 1st question to the vet after my operation. He replied “I don’t think Bruno has any problems with eating”. He was trying to say in a polite way that I was overweight! He said that Loui could also do with losing a few pounds and told us about the complimentary weight clinic they run.
On our 1st appointment at the weight clinic we had a consultation with a lovely nurse called ‘Becky’. She was very friendly and fussed us a lot. She wants to know about our diet & lifestyle; she also wanted to weigh us. I was just over 16kgs Loui was just over 7kgs. We were both given an ideal weight to aim for & out on to an Obesity Management food with no treats. I knew this wouldn’t be a problem as mummy & daddy couldn’t resist our big, cute brown eyes.
So back at home we started our new diet. We were walking more and we attended the weight clinic every 4-6 weeks, and to our surprised there were no treats, no matter how hard we begged!
Now 18 months on I weigh in at 13.8kgs & Louis at 6.7kgs and although we have not reached our target weights, we are not far off. We both feel a lot happier and healthier and I have lots more energy.

Bruno & Loui were referred to me by one of our veterinary surgeons in February. With over 25% of the pet population with a weight problem I was happy to welcome them to my daily weight clinics, even though to begin with it was a bit of a struggle. They were both into their treats and liked getting their own way!
It was particularly important for these two to lose weight as they struggled with their breathing and had collapsing episodes (often a problem with this breed). On the first appointment a full clinical history was taken and the daily routine of both pets discusses. It was decided that a specific veterinary diet was essential as they were getting to be severely obese.
I am pleased to report that months later they are close to their ideal weights. I am absolutely thrilled that they have come this far and this is the main reason I have nominated them for my first Pet of the Month
Congratulations to Bruno, Loui and their owners. Without their hard work they would not have achieved such fantastic results.
