Appointments & Emergencies

All the surgeries are run by appointment only. We believe this reduces waiting times and allows for a more efficient running of the practice. Appointments can either be made by telephone or in person at the surgery.

It is often quite helpful to give a few details about your pet's problem to the receptionists, so that we are forewarned of any special requirements (e.g. if your dog has kennel cough, which can be highly contagious to other dogs, if you will need a little help holding your pet, we can ensure a nurse will be available etc).

For minor treatments, such as nail clipping or removal of stitches from a routine procedure, an appointment with one of our nurses in the nurses' clinic may be appropriate. Contact your local surgery to book in.

Nurse Clinics

These are run at our Hillmorton and our Leamington surgeries. Our clinics can help you with a range of services including:

  • Dietary advice
  • Weight clinics
  • Free flea and worm checks (for registered clients)
  • Nail clips
  • Stitch removals
  • Post operations checks on routine procedures.
  • Dental checks
  • Adolescent checks

Please call your local surgery to make an appointment.

Puppy Parties

These are run at our Hillmorton surgery.

The aim of the puppy parties (run as a 3 week course) is to help socialise your puppy and provide information on a range of subjects. When puppies are between 8 and 12 weeks of age they are at their most inquisitive and least fearful, so it is during this time that it is best to introduce puppys to as much as possible.

Each course includes the following topics: preventative treatments and insurance, behavior and training, healthcare and neutering. We have a local dog trainer, Sue Reynolds, who donates her time to host the behavior and training part of the course. More details on her and her services are available: Wag n Train (Rugby) 01788 817610

Puppy parties are a complimentary service, offered to our registered clients only as part of our primary vaccination course.

Emergencies

In the case of an urgent problem it always best to telephone the surgery to let us know you are on your way and we will ensure you will be seen as soon as possible on your arrival.

Emergencies outside surgery hours

We provide our own 24 hour emergency service at our own sites, so in the event of an emergency, you will only have to go to your familiar local surgery and not need to travel to an unfamiliar place in what could be a very stressful and upsetting time.

Our own vets and nurses provide our 24 hour cover.

Any patients that need hospitalization overnight are kept at our own surgeries with our own veterinary nurses who live on site performing a 'last check' at around 10pm at night, and then if further overnight care is required, our vet or nurse on call will provide this throughout the night where necessary.

What to do if you need a vet when we are closed:

  • Call your local Rainsbrook branch
  • Follow the answer-phone instructions on how to contact the vet on call
  • The vet will call you back after they have been paged to provide advice, or to arrange to meet you at your local surgery.

Please be advised, there is an additional charge for emergency consultations outside of normal hours. Most insurance companies will pay for emergency consultations, so this is another good reason for having your pets insured.

The on-call vet will be working the next day, so if you are worried about your pet it is much appreciated if you telephone as soon as possible rather than waiting to the early hours.
